Invited Talk at Osnabrück University

Many thanks to Dr. Laura Herzog and Prof. Claudia Pahl-Wostl for inviting me to give a presentation at the Osnabrück University (14. January 2026).

Title: “Fast-Track Procedures to Mitigate Climate Change: Are We Really Accelerating Towards Sustainability? – A Perspective Informed by a Relational Approach”

In my talk, I discussed fast-track procedures as a globally emerging governance response to climate urgency. While these approaches aim to accelerate the implementation of infrastructure for the energy transition, they also raise important questions regarding justice and environmental impacts.

The presentation combined conceptual analysis with interactive elements grounded in neuroscience-informed and relational approaches. Together with the audience, we explored how intra- and inter-personal dynamics shape risk perceptions of infrastructure, social engagement, cooperation, and decision-making, and how participatory processes can be designed to better account for these dynamics. I was very grateful for the high level of engagement and reflexive contributions, which led to substantive discussions and valuable feedback.

Thank you to the audience for the thoughtful exchange and constructive atmosphere. It was also a great pleasure to reconnect with colleagues such as Dr. François-Xavier Viallon, Dr. Larissa Koch, and Dr. Juan Felipe Ortiz-Riomalo, and to continue conversations across disciplinary perspectives.

I take many insights from this discussion back into my ongoing research.
